Toronto Seikatsu Support was a personal project of mine. Having studied and lived in Japan for a short period after college, I wanted to give back to Japanese students who were coming to Toronto in order to study English. TSS helped them with studying, making friends through community events, resume & job search assistance, etc.

I designed and created the website myself; the teal colour of the brand and website were supposed to elicit a response of trust and ease for my target audience (though looking back now, I realize it’s not a great colour for the web!). I tried to balance the design with both Western design language (minimalism) and Japanese design (more text heavy for reassurance). A lot of the copy was written by myself and edited by a native speaker.

The site and service are no longer active as priorities have changed (especially during the pandemic) but it was a great experience nonetheless.
